What does GFCI stand for?
GFCI stands for ground-fault circuit interrupter.
The ground-fault circuit interrupter is a fast-acting circuit breaker designed to shut off electric power in the event of a ground-fault within as little as 1/40 of a second. GFCI outlet is to protect equipment and to reduce the risk of serious harm from an ongoing electric shock.
There are several models for option:
GFCI 15A
GFCI 20A
GFCI 15A with TR
GFCI 20A with TR
GFCI 15A with TR & WR
GFCI 20A with TR & WR
What does TR mean on GFCI?
Tamper Resistant
There are two ways to keep your outlets safe: tamper-resistant (TR) outlets and ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. Outlets with a TR and GFCI rating are the safest outlets that you can install in your home, as they protect against potential electric shock.
What does WR mean on GFCI?
Weather Resistant
The weather resistant is designed to withstand extreme cold, corrosion, and damp environments. When installing a weather resistant GFCI in a damp location remember that you must also use a weather resistant cover.
